Registry – Patch to display HTML help files
Problem
After having installed the security update KB896358 for Windows XP the HTML Help features of the network installation of APIS IQ-Software may not work correctly due to the standard security settings of the security update. The topics may be listed but the target page will not be displayed.
Reason according to Microsoft Knowledge Base
"A vulnerability exists in HTML Help that could allow remote code execution on an affected system." The vulnerability is documented in the "Vulnerability Details" section of Microsoft Security Bulletin (MS05-026) or in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.
Solution
The registry patch file will change the relevant registry entry which is responsible for cross domain links to be classified as trustworthy in local networks. That way all references will work for links on local machines as well as for intranet links. Download and install the 'Registry - Patch' file. Please note that you will need administrator rights to modify your registry.
